PA Winter

Winter has finally hit with a vengency. We have had up to now a very mild winter with very little snow and most of the storm has been rain. This past week we have had a couple of ice storm and a snow storm and then on Monday the cold come in with a vengance. The temperature has not reached above freezing this whole week. Yesterday Jan 16, 2009 the temp never got above 20 decreees F. With the wind chill factor it was more like 5 or 6 degrees. With the humidity it seems like it is colder than it is and it chills you to the bone. We have not had a night that we didn't go to bed with very cold feet. Thank goodness for an electric blanket.

When the ice storm come it leave a layer of ice on our car that you have to chip off the windshield. Most of the people here who have cars turn the windshield wipers out away from the windshield at night so that they don't freeze to the windsheild. We have some stuff that we can spray on the windshield that melts the ice. It works really well. However you still have to scrape the ice off the windows. The other interesting thing that we have noticed is that we have not had to scrape frost off our windshield yet this winter. We just have to scrape ice when there is an ice storm.
