Gettysburg

These are some pictures taken at the battle field at Gettysburg. These pictures were taken at the top of the hill near cemitary hill where the Union Soldier made their stand and turned the Confederate soldiers back. We were only in Gettysburg for a short time and did not have time to spend here other than a drive through. We are going to return to Gettysburg on a day when we can spend some time here and get an understanding of what happended on 3 days in July of 1863. This is the area that is called the high water mark. As I looked over the vast area of this battle I am in awe of what took place and have a hard time thinking that people would actually stand toe to toe and kill each other. I guess my personality has a hard time believing that we have people like that is this world. And yet we have our troups in Iraq fighting for freedoms that we enjoy. Here also we find people who are fighting for what they believe. We hope to learn more about these people in the coming weeks. We have been told that they have produced a new film that will begin showing at the visitor center on the 14th of April. We will go down after it begins to show. We are also planning to go to Lancaster in the next couple of weeks to see the Amish and watch them plow their field with teams of horses. I really want to be able to get a picture of them plowing their fields.
So watch this blog for future interesting events in the lives of Elder Sister Smith of the PA Harrisburg Mission.
